Cooler, safer and more connected spaces are now a reality for the PPR Beringin community in Kuala Lumpur. In this video, we celebrate a major milestone for urban climate resilience. In partnership with the Z Zurich Foundation and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), we supported the community to co-create Kuala Lumpur’s first designated cooling infrastructure. This transformation includes new tree planting for shade, a vibrant playground mural to encourage play and community-designed cooling spaces to combat extreme heat. When asked to describe the transformed neighbourhood, the community chose the words "hopeful," "green," and "shaded." This project shows that resilience begins with communities and is essential to leading a fair and resilient transition against climate impacts.
