Accelerating progress on SDG 6: rethinking the means of implementation
Held as part of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development (30 June – 3 July 2025 in Sevilla), this session was organized by the UN-Water Global Analysis and Assessment of Sanitation and Drinking-Water (GLAAS) initiative.
The event explored strategies to strengthen domestic financing and improve tracking of implementation for water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services, supporting global efforts to achieve SDG 6 and the 2030 Agenda. It also discussed WHO’s April 2025 strategic white paper, which provides a forward-looking assessment of how to improve monitoring of the Means of Implementation (MoI) for water and sanitation through 2030 and even into “post-2030” frameworks.
The session aimed to raise awareness, foster dialogue on SDG 6 MoIs, and support the Financing for Development process. It was held in English with AI interpretation in French and Spanish, with speaker consent and in line with WHO guidelines.
