Launch of the WHO global report on solid waste and health – 16 December 2025

Municipal solid waste is projected to soar—and when waste is mismanaged, it contaminates air, water, soil and food chains, contributes to climate change, and harms health and dignity, especially for the most vulnerable. In this webinar, WHO launches its new global report: Throwing away our health: the impacts of solid waste on human health – evidence, knowledge gaps and health sector responses (https://tinyurl.com/3syeudph). The session presents key findings, highlights where evidence is still missing, and explores what the health sector can do to drive safer, healthier, more sustainable waste policies and practices. You’ll also hear country insights from Brazil and Ghana, followed by a panel discussion on policy implications—covering topics such as the circular economy, extended producer responsibility, and priority evidence needs—before closing with an interactive panel of distinguished experts on how health, environment and waste actors can work together. 🗓️ Recorded: 16 December 2025 (14:00–15:00 CET).
