To improve income, food security and employment opportunities for poor and marginalized rural men and women, and their families, the “Strengthening Capacity of Smallholder Farmers for Resilient Livelihoods (SAKSHAM)” project was implemented for the period 2022–2025. The project is supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland through Felm Nepal and executed by LI-BIRD in Krishnapur Municipality and Laljhadi Rural Municipality of Kanchanpur District, as well as Jorayal Rural Municipality of Doti District. In this context, the project provided the grant support to them to address the vulnerability and risk faced by them in terms of finance access and employment opportunities. The two-minute documentary video, “Deb Bahadur: A Figure of Struggle and Inspiration,” showcases the project’s contributions to improving the income status of persons with disabilities by establishing the grocery shop in ward no. 1, Jorayal Rural Municipality, Doti. Today, this shop has become the main source of his livelihood. His journey to becoming self-reliant, despite all the challenges, is truly inspiring.
