Formation of Community Security Committee 2

Formation of Community Security Committee (CSCs)- Qandala. Supported by FCDO and Denmark Following successful security operations and renewed calm in Qandala, the community is now at the centre of shaping long‑term peace and resilience. With support from IOM, the Ministry of Internal Security and Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR), residents came together to form Community Security Committees (CSCs) designed to address local security challenges through inclusive, community‑led action. The formation process brought together elders, women, youth, police, minority groups, IDPs, and local authorities. Through awareness sessions and stakeholder consultations, members learnt how to identify threats, develop a Community Safety Plan, and work directly with security institutions to coordinate effective responses. These committees become trusted platforms for dialogue, early warning, and collaborative problem‑solving, strengthening relationships between communities and the state, and reducing the risk of renewed conflict. By empowering local voices and ensuring inclusive participation, the CSCs are helping to build a safer, more resilient Qandala, where community members are actively shaping the peace and stability they deserve.
