Drought and Displacement in Somalia: A Growing Humanitarian Crisis

In early 2026, drought caused 75% of new displacements in the most affected districts of Baydhabo, Dayniile, Kaxda, Diinsoor, and Doolow.

As displacement rises, overstretched cities face growing pressure. IOM and partners are providing emergency shelter, clean water, and essential aid, but urgent support is needed to address worsening food insecurity and strengthen climate resilience.
