Transforming deforestation and conversion free agricultural supply chains in Latin America –Trade4EU

The Trade4EU project is an international initiative supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The announcement of the project’s approval was made during COP30 in Belém. As a strategic element for the start of implementation, it is essential to ensure legitimacy and recognition, as well as to position the initiative within national, regional, and global contexts of cooperation and supply chains as a strategic and catalytic actor. In this regard, the project seeks to present its objectives and approach, highlighting the added value for strategic partners, as well as to foster engagement and collaboration from the early stages with policymakers, the private sector, civil society, and donors, also incorporating contributions and feedback. In addition, it aims to position itself in global and regional debates on deforestation-free value chains and to share the vision and expectations of different countries and sectors. The regional event will be held in a hybrid format (in-person and virtual), lasting two hours, from 12:00 to 14:00 (Brasília time), on April 30, and will include welcome remarks from BMUV as the donor, from MAPA as the hosting political partner, and from a representative of the implementing consortium, followed by a project presentation and a panel with representatives from the governments of the participating countries and the private sector.
