From Commitments to Action | The EESC at COP30 (UNFCCC)
The European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) is actively contributing to the COP30 UN Climate Change Conference, held in Belém, Brazil, from 10 to 21 November 2025.
For the first time, a COP is taking place in the Amazon region, highlighting the essential role of ecosystems in global climate stability. Ten years after the Paris Agreement, this conference marks a crucial moment to move from commitments to real implementation.
As part of the EU delegation, the EESC brings the voice of organised civil society into international climate discussions. Its delegation, including members and a youth representative, engages in debates and side events to promote stronger climate ambition and concrete, science-based action.
Key priorities highlighted by the EESC include:
• Climate change adaptation for resilient societies
• Phasing out fossil fuel subsidies
• Climate finance and a just transition
• Sustainable agri-food systems
Civil society plays a vital role in turning climate commitments into action on the ground.
