EU Budget expenditure tracking and performance framework | RFP (ECO/698) K. DIAMANTOUROS & D. BIEGON

At its June 2026 plenary session, the European Economic and Social Committee discussed the EU Budget expenditure tracking and performance framework. In this Reporting from Plenary video, rapporteur Konstantinos Diamantouros and co-rapporteur Dominika Biegon present the EESC opinion on the proposed performance framework for the EU budget. The opinion supports the creation of a more coherent system of indicators across the Multiannual Financial Framework, while stressing the need for transparency, proportionality and meaningful measurement of results. The EESC also highlights the importance of social investment, quality jobs, gender mainstreaming, biodiversity spending, the partnership principle, and the involvement of organised civil society and social partners in the implementation of EU-funded programmes.
