Day 2 of the 605th Plenary Session featured three major debates. The first focused on supplementary pensions in the context of the Savings and Investment Union, with discussions on how workplace and personal pension schemes can support retirement income while remaining complementary to public pension systems. The second debate addressed how to improve the innovation-to-market journey for startups in the European Union, looking at the barriers faced by startups and scaleups, the role of the European Innovation Act, and ways to support innovative growth across Europe. The third debate, Europe for Culture, Culture for Europe, focused on the Cultural Compass for Europe and the role of culture in strengthening European values, democracy, social cohesion, creativity, and the cultural and creative sectors. These debates were linked to the adoption of opinions on the supplementary pensions package, the EU Startups and Scale-up Strategy with a focus on the European Innovation Act, and A Cultural Compass for Europe. The session also included the adoption of a wide range of opinions covering financial markets, innovation, culture, employment, social rights, competitiveness, sustainability, and the single market. 🔗 Full event page: https://www.eesc.europa.eu/en/agenda/our-events/events/605th-plenary-session-29-30-april-2026 🔗 Adopted opinions: https://www.eesc.europa.eu/en/agenda/our-events/events/605th-plenary-session-29-30-april-2026/opinions ---------------------------- 00:00:00 Opening remarks 00:00:49 ECO/695 Supplementary pensions package: PEPP and IORP - Debate 00:51:04 INT/1112 EU Startups and scale up strategy - with a focus on European Innovation Act - Debate 02:30:57 SOC/853 A Culture Compass for Europe - Debate 03:48:05 Closing Remarks
