Meet Stoyan Tchoukanov, President of the EESC NAT Section and member of the Civil Society Organisations’ Group. Originally from Bulgaria, Stoyan Tchoukanov is a farmer and beef breeder. He is a member of the European Economic and Social Committee, where his work focuses on pragmatic solutions to improve our relationship with the environment while keeping Europe’s farmers and businesses economically viable. In this episode, he shares how his personal experience as a farmer has shaped his commitment to climate action, biodiversity protection and the future of Europe’s agri-food system. He speaks about the impact of climate change, including the wildfires that affected his own farm, and underlines the need to stop ignoring the challenges already facing many farmers across Europe.
