Transformation Spotlight: Scaling Remanufacturing and Regeneration in Alaska
While Alaska is celebrated for its majestic beauty and rugged landscapes, it is also emerging as a hub for decarbonization innovation. With more coastline than the lower 48 states combined, Alaska’s shores and fjords are littered with marine debris. The effects of rising temperatures—melting permafrost, dwindling salmon populations, and the displacement of Alaska Natives—have sparked place-based solutions that transform waste into valuable resources, led by those most impacted.
This conversation features Chris Pallister, a global leader in marine debris cleanup, discussing a project that has the potential to not only restore Alaska’s coastlines but also serve as a model for island nations in their fight against climate change.
The conversation was presented and recorded by Pyxera Global during the annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and Climate Week NYC on September 23, 2024, in order to drive meaningful dialogue focused on building an aspirational, action-oriented mindset and on committing to implement systemic solutions.
