Restoring Bura River
In Kenya’s Tsavo Conservation Area, Simon Mwakio Mwangemi has witnessed the steady impact of climate stress on his home—declining rainfall, drying rivers, forest loss, and the severe drought cycles that pushed Bura Location from food security to recurring crisis. Vuria Forest, once a stable catchment feeding the Bura River and sustaining communities and wildlife across Tsavo West, Lumo, and Maungu, began to degrade under deforestation and unsustainable land use.
This is a film about how collaboration between local leadership, community groups, funders, and nonprofit partners is driving restoration, riverbank protection, and agroforestry to rebuild the region’s climate resilience.
