When drought strikes children pay the highest price

Across South West State, families are being forced from their homes as drought destroys livelihoods, dries up water sources, and deepens food insecurity. In displacement camps around Baidoa, mothers like Nuurto and Nuneey are struggling to provide for their children after losing everything. With little access to food and safe water, many children are arriving at health facilities in critical condition. UNICEF, together with partners, is supporting essential health, nutrition, and WASH services to reach the most vulnerable communities. But needs are rising rapidly as the drought continues. More support is urgently needed to ensure every child has the chance to survive and thrive.
