In Madre de Dios, Peru, Evelyn Celadita leads a mining concession and is part of AMATAF, an association of artisanal miners working toward responsible, mercury-free gold production. Through Fairmined certification and ongoing support from Pure Earth Peru, Evelyn and her colleagues have improved working conditions, strengthened reforestation efforts, and built stronger ties within their community.
