Landmark deal brings injectable HIV prevention tool lenacapavir to 120 countries by 2027
"With this model, we’ve shortened the timeline from innovation to impact, moving from over a decade of delay to less than two years between regulatory approvals in high-income countries and access in low- and middle-income countries," said Janet Ginnard, Director of Strategy at Unitaid.
By securing a US$40 annual price for injectable lenacapavir and supporting generic production, Unitaid, together with the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Wits RHI, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, is setting a new standard for how breakthrough health tools can reach the people who need them most.
This agreement shows that equitable access is only possible through strong partnerships. At Unitaid, we work hand in hand with country programs, affected communities, researchers in the global South, and a broad coalition of partners across sectors. Together, we can overcome barriers and build sustainable markets that deliver affordable, life-changing tools.
