At the crossroads? German constitutional resilience after the Bundestag elections 2025 | DRI

The upcoming German Bundestag elections will be decisive in shaping political agendas and priorities in Germany, Europe and beyond. At the same time the country faces the risk of democratic decline observed in several other EU member states, due to a normalisation of for far-right positions in the population and a race between centrist and far-right parties to best represent these positions. How likely is it that the incoming government might adopt restrictive policies that undermine the rule of law? Discuss with us how the resilience of Germany’s courts, political institutions and civil society may soon be put to the test. --- Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-governmental, independent organisation analysing democratic developments and advising on constitutional and electoral frameworks quickly and flexibly. DRI also directly engages with partners on the ground to improve democratic structures and safeguards across the countries where we work.
