Chagas disease affects an estimated 8 million people worldwide.
While often spread by insects in the Americas, globally it is most commonly passed from mother to child.
It is preventable and treatable, but too many women go undiagnosed and face stigma.
This World #ChagasDisease Day,
@WHO
calls on every country to screen every at-risk girl and every woman of childbearing age, treat every girl and woman who needs it, and test every newborn and every child of an infected mother.
