Maryland Climate Tech+ 2026 Presents Almeta E Cooper

Houses and where are they located are transformed into homes by the people who dwell in them and the neighborhoods in which they are located. Whether a home is located in a healthy community is determined by a complex set of social and political factors. Among these factors, climate and health have emerged as critical, inseparable factors. And whether a community cannot not only maintain its viability but also thrive has become tied to climate resilience. Not all communities are equally equipped to meet the twin challenges of climate and health. This session will identify dangers posed both within and external to homes and provide guidance about how to address climate and health injustice. Almeta E. Cooper lends her expertise in health justice to all aspects of Moms Clean Air Force’s work, with a special focus on climate and children’s health under the umbrella of the Community Health Justice program. Her work on clean air and health issues for Moms is a natural progression of her 30-year career as an executive, attorney, and advocate for organizations focused on health care, health justice, and women and girls.
