COP30 Belém: Al Gore Unveils New Climate TRACE Tool to Cut Global Emissions
At COP30 in Belém, Brazil, Climate TRACE co-founders former U.S. Vice President Al Gore and Gavin McCormick joined the UNFCCC to unveil new tools and partnerships to transform data into action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. At the event, Climate TRACE announced groundbreaking new capabilities — including a first-of-a-kind tool to create Emissions Reduction Roadmaps, enabling anyone to understand options to cut climate pollution at 745 million individual sources.
ABOUT THE EVENT
At this COP30 event, the UNFCCC and Climate TRACE, alongside collaborators in technology and policy, showcased how high-resolution emissions data can be transformed into real-world impact.
Speakers highlighted new tools and datasets that help governments and organizations…
• Identify the biggest opportunities for near-term emissions cuts
• Pinpoint low-hanging fruit for rapid climate pollution reductions
• Strengthen NDCs, corporate climate pledges, and subnational decarbonization plans
• Track progress in near–real time
Opening remarks were delivered by Daniele Violetti (UNFCCC).
INTRODUCING THE CLIMATE TRACE EMISSIONS REDUCTION ROADMAP TOOL
Climate TRACE reveals a tool that provides source-level data on options to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions at every major emitting facility on Earth — 745 million individual emitting sources.
The new roadmap provides:
✔️ Detail on source-specific potential climate solutions
✔️ Estimated emissions reduction potential for each emissions reducing strategy
✔️ Insight into which interventions are easier or harder to implement
✔️ Comparable data across all major sectors
This tool is now freely available to the public, enabling countries, companies, and civil society to act more strategically and effectively than ever before.
