RedR UK: who we are

RedR UK works to strengthen the capacity of agencies, aid workers, and affected communities to prepare, respond and recover from complex humanitarian crises. We provide training for the humanitarian and development sectors, envisioning a world in which highly skilled professionals respond effectively, inclusively, and sustainably to disasters, wherever they are in the world. Since 1980, RedR UK has played a pivotal role in training thousands of aid workers, engineers, NGO staff and local communities. In the past year, we trained 6,707 people from 134 different countries, of whom 96% reported our training as ‘excellent’ or ‘good’. Working with the largest international agencies as well as local actors at the grassroots level, we focus on three broad themes - climate change, engineering in emergencies, and humanitarian capacity development. We take care to foreground the perspective and action of affected communities in everything we do. The impact of our work hinges on its inclusivity and contextual relevance, and it is incomplete and ineffective without the leadership of local actors diffused throughout, fundamentally shaping our programmes.
