Fatoumata Diaraye
Originally from Labé and born into a family of farmers and herders, Fatoumata decided to take over her father’s work by starting her own goat farm. Despite her family’s initial doubts, she won them over through persistence and determination. With support from IOM, she acquired 14 goats and expanded the activity into a small business, particularly for the Tabaski season. She now employs two family members and plans to hire more. Fatoumata hopes to inspire other young people—especially women—to pursue farming and livestock breeding as a sustainable alternative to migration.
Implemented by IOM and funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, CinemArena is a mobile education and information programme that raises awareness about socio-economic opportunities in Africa as a sustainable alternative to irregular migration.
