Is Venezuela the solution to U.S. energy security?
“The [oil] grade that Venezuela produces is exactly the grade that the United States needs," argues Natasha Kaneva, managing director for global oil and commodities research at JP Morgan Chase & Co. in a recent conversation on commodity markets.
"70% of the Gulf Coast refining capacity is built to take Venezuelan oil. It’s heavy crude. That’s exactly what we need. So if you look at that and you say, ‘OK, actually, it makes a lot of sense for us, one way or another, to get involved in Venezuela,’” Kaneva says.
