Safeguarding Biodiversity - For People and Planet

Nepal’s wildlife recovery stands as a global conservation success, driven largely by the role of local communities as stewards of forests and protected areas. With the introduction of buffer zones, communities can sustainably use natural resources while receiving 60% of park revenue—ensuring conservation directly benefits people. Tourism and conservation have grown hand in hand, supporting livelihoods while protecting biodiversity. Buffer Zone Management Committees (BZMCs) play a key role in this system, aligning local efforts with international conservation standards and safeguarding both nature and ways of life.
