In Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, Polk Factory is turning recycled cardboard into millions of egg trays each month. But producing at this scale requires significant amounts of water in an area already facing water scarcity. With support from IOM’s Enterprise Development Fund – Green, the factory installed a biological wastewater treatment system that purifies and reuses water without chemicals, reducing pressure on local water resources while supporting more sustainable business practices.
