This figure becomes even higher among individuals who have lived through humanitarian crises such as conflict or natural disasters. Since COVID-19, global awareness of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) has increased, and many countries have developed relevant policies. Nevertheless, reports indicate that although more than half of affected individuals expressed a need for psychological support in humanitarian settings, only about 20% had access to appropriate services. In low- and middle-income countries, the budget allocated to MHPSS accounts for only about 2% of total public health expenditure. What are the underlying causes of these disparities?
