Yet today, attacks on healthcare in armed conflicts have escalated to unprecedented levels. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 1,370 attacks on medical care were recorded in 2025, of which 581 occurred in Ukraine and 460 in Palestine, followed by Myanmar and Sudan. In terms of fatalities, Sudan has suffered the most severe impact, with 1,620 people killed as a result of attacks on healthcare (WHO, as of 6 April 2026). What must the international community do now to stop attacks on medical care?
