Animation showing organic matter (indicating wildfire smoke in pink-magenta) and dust (in yellow-orange) Aerosol Optical Depth between 1-31 August 2025. The month started with a large Saharan dust transport across the Atlantic reaching the Caribbean and Central America and a huge smoke plume from the Canadian wildfires transported over Europe. Mid-month, the intense smoke concentrations from Portugal and Spain extreme wildfires is clearly visible.
