Abigail’s story: Empowering Girls to Shine | #MovementMakers

🗣️“I wanted to be a voice for the voiceless.” Growing up in Northern Ghana, Abigail saw how boys were encouraged to pursue education, while girls were often expected to marry. Abigail’s aunt had been married young and faced many challenges, but she was determined that Abigail’s story would be different and made sure she went to school. As Abigail studied, she noticed how many girls in her community were not attending school. Determined to change this, she pursued a course in social work to speak up for girls and help them realise their full potential. Today, Abigail works with the Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana, empowering girls and fighting to end child marriage. She believes girls deserve an equal platform to achieve their potential and to shine. 🌟 Celebrate and share the stories of #MovementMakers working to end child marriage. #MovementMakers #16DaysOfActivism #EndChildMarriage #Ghana #girlsrights #educating girls 00:00 Introduction 00:32 Growing up 01:21 Getting into social work 01:40 Working with Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana @youthharvestfoundationghan2416 02:32 Ending child marriage in Ghana Music: No Time To Remember, Remember The Future (Shutterstock)
