Press Conference: Launch of the International Claims Commission for Ukraine
On 16 December, leaders and senior politicians from across Europe and beyond will gather at the World Forum in The Hague to launch a new convention establishing the International Claims Commission for Ukraine.
This commission represents the second part of a compensation mechanism addressing Russia’s war of aggression, building on the existing Register of Damage for Ukraine. Created in 2023, the Register has already recorded over 80,000 claims and is supported by 44 states and the European Union.
The International Claims Commission will review and assess claims submitted to the Register and determine compensation. The initiative is led by the Council of Europe, in partnership with the Netherlands, Ukraine, and more than 50 states.
