70-year-old Birma Devi Singh lives in a small village in the Doti Far-Western Development Region of Nepal.

When we met Birma, vision in her right eye had been impaired for over a year. At her age, vision loss can have compounding repercussions. Once seemingly simple tasks like walking through her village can become a dangerous journey. Personal independence becomes severely limited, forcing the elderly to heavily rely on their family members just to get through the day. And none of that speaks to the mental toll experienced as time goes on.

But with the support of donors like you, Birma was able to get the eye care treatment she needed to restore her vision. We were fortunate to talk with Birma after her recovery, and capture a tender moment reflecting on the experience.
