Seva: Best of 2025
With your help, Seva continues to strengthen what lasts. Local people, local systems, new technology, and solid research. Let's take a look at a few of the ways you helped make a better world in 2025. Seva and partner Visualiza reached a milestone this September when we completed construction on a state-of-the-art eye hospital in Quiché, Guatemala. Designed to serve more than 1 million people, it marks a powerful step toward ending avoidable blindness in the country by 2032. At Seva, think globally, act locally is more than a catchy phrase. It's a proven approach. On International Women's Day, we spoke with Sunita Arora. Since being trained by Seva in 2014, Sunita has helped put thousands of women in India on the path to meaningful eye health careers, strengthening health systems, families, and communities. Seva supports school screenings in remote communities to deliver eye care to children in need. Early access to glasses can increase a child's lifetime earnings by 78%. Opening the world for students like Sakina, who now sees the blackboard clearly and dreams of becoming a nurse. From Bangladesh to Uganda, Cambodia to Paraguay, and countries all along the way. You helped establish 45 new vision centers, bringing quality eye care closer to home for more than 4.2 million people. Seva advanced the case for vision care through evidence at the United Nations General Assembly. Seva launched the Value of Vision study showing that addressing avoidable vision loss could add $447 billion to the global economy and help 22 million more people work. Thank you for being part of this life-changing work in 2025. We can't wait to see what we'll create together next.
