The Health Equity podcast | Access to insulin and beyond: tackling type 1 diabetes inequities
In this episode of The Health Equity podcast, Jayasree K. Iyer, CEO of the Access to Medicine Foundation, speaks with James Reid, Program Officer for the Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Program at the Helmsley Charitable Trust.
They discuss what it will take to expand access to care for people living with T1D in low- and middle-income countries, where many are still not diagnosed or linked to care in time and access to insulin remains limited.
The conversation explores why, despite significant commitments from pharmaceutical companies, access efforts often remain fragmented and limited in scale. It also looks at the importance of stronger alignment with government priorities, more integrated approaches and coordination across partners to reach more people with life-saving care.
