Amid the ongoing crisis in Gaza, where 164 heritage sites have already been damaged, UNESCO is working to protect cultural heritage while supporting early recovery. So far, five sites have been stabilized, generating 1,850 working days for local workers and salvaging more than 12,800 heritage stone elements for future restoration. Over the next two years, UNESCO aims to mobilize $116.5 million to protect culture, restore learning and support over 45,000 young people through education and skills development programmes.
