With financial support from the Governments of Italy and Japan, UNESCO is leading efforts to document and preserve the ancient mural paintings of the Buddha Cliff in Bamiyan. These paintings, recognized as the oldest oil paintings in the world, offer a unique window into the artistic and cultural heritage of Afghanistan. This film was produced during field missions organized by UNESCO, highlighting the technical and historical significance of these masterpieces. This ÆGIS Productions film was directed and filmed by Daoud Bouledroua and produced by Brendan Cassar in 2024.
