My Name Is (Trailer) Wezile Harmans "Frankfurt Moves!" 2023 The performance explores the impact and urgency of knowledge transmission in discomfort. Using live spoken words borrowed from the indigenous people of Southern Africa, Khoisan and Nguni Language, Wezile Harmans makes a reference to the tensions and disjunctures between formal and informal knowledge systems. This power struggle takes embodied form through the interplay of gestures, collective conversations and movements, which suggest that the tension between who gets to speak and who listens remains perpetually unresolved. In that process history and identity is distorted. Sonic: Mlondiwethu Dubazane Research: LEAD Project / LSE and SOAS Poem: Imbali by Athambile Masola Duration: ca. 20 min. His work has been presented throughout South Africa and internationally and he has participated in several residencies and received awards, such as the Prince Claus Fund Building Beyond Award in 2023. "Frankfurt Moves!" is an initiative of the foundation KfW Stiftung aimed at promoting artistic exchange and intercultural dialogue. The residency programme in cooperation with the Frankfurt LAB supports international emerging artists in the performing arts.
