International Co-operation for a Secure and Sustainable Arctic
The Arctic has become a focal point on the international political agenda, with increasing interest from countries around the world in the region’s economic and geopolitical significance. At the same time, the Arctic is feeling the impacts of climate change more acutely than many other areas.
Currently, cooperation between Russia and the other Arctic-bordering nations in the Nordic Region and North America is limited. Meanwhile, major powers like China and India are showing a growing interest in the Arctic.
As a strategically important and vulnerable region, the Arctic relies heavily on robust international cooperation.
- What is the strategic importance of the Arctic region in Nordic and transatlantic cooperation?
- How can we collaborate to ensure the peaceful and sustainable management of the Arctic?
- What roles do science, local interests, and indigenous populations play in shaping Arctic policy?
