Welcome to Shamba Shape Up Series 16! This week we are in Kariene in Meru County and we are visiting farmers Joshua and Janice who are husband and wife. Janice is a full-time farmer and Gitonga is a headteacher but he also does farming. They have Layers- currently 80 laying birds. Have brought in a new flock. 3 cows are in calf, 7, 6 & 5months, Best milker produces 22 liters at its peak. 1 cow has been struggling to get in calf. They also have Maize, coffee, kunde, onions We are learning about: 1. How to properly care for your calf from day one to ensure it grows to a healthy heifer that comes on heat at the right time. 2. A smart and efficient way to prepare land as well as offer it as a service to fellow farmers for additional income. 3.
