Navigating uncertainty innovation in fragile settings
As part of the Global Impact Evaluation Forum 2024, organized by UNICEF and WFP, this video revisits key insights six months after the event, focusing on the role of impact evaluation in humanitarian and fragile contexts.
Six months on: impact evaluation in humanitarian and fragile contexts builds a case for aid
Qundeel Khattak, Senior Research Advisor, Humanitarian Cash and Voucher Assistance, Save the Children, says it’s important to keep sharing innovative approaches in impact evaluation, especially in fragile settings. Some outcomes from the forum included to make wider use of A/B testing, as well as innovative methods such as geospatial analysis and machine learning-based causal inference, to test and refine what works in fragile contexts.
The forum highlighted the importance of innovating the way we address nutrition and health issues. Children’s well-being programmes are often multi-sectoral and multi-actor interventions, thus breaking through silos to coordinate impact evaluations with UN and non-UN partners is key.
