Nepal celebrates yaks and pastoral cultures. National Yak Day, observed on 20 April, honours the sociocultural, economic, and ecological role of yaks in the lives of Nepal’s highland communities. In 2025, Nepal became the first yak range country to declare a national day for this iconic species of the high mountains.
