This animation explores the vital role of springs as natural sources of freshwater, especially in regions like the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH), where millions rely on springs for drinking, irrigation, livestock, and cultural practices. It highlights the alarming depletion of these springs due to climate change, land degradation, and overextraction of groundwater. The animation introduces the concept of spring revival, focusing on hydrogeological interventions, planting vegetation, agronomic measures, and community-based efforts in managing recharge areas. It emphasizes the importance of springshed management as a nature-based solution, which involves not only reviving springs but also caring for the areas that feed them, ensuring water security for both people and ecosystems.
