In the Municipality of Berane in Montenegro, the cultural centre’s roof was refurbished to make considerable energy savings. The cutting-edge material, polyurethane foam, enables savings on both cooling and heating, reducing energy bills and energy-related emissions. The Berane Cultural Centre energy efficiency initiative is one among ten small-scale projects implemented in the Western Balkans under the EU4 Energy transition: Covenant of Mayors in the Western Balkans and Türkiye component of the ORF-ETC Project. It is co-funded by the European Union and Germany and managed by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in the Western Balkans. The partners in the implementation were the Municipality of Berane and the Association of Municipalities of Montenegro.
