The volume of trade continues to increase worldwide. Up until now, the border processes mostly rely on the exchange of paper documents, but with rising numbers of shipments this can lead to significant delays in global value chains. However, documents accompanying the goods can nowadays move faster than before thanks to digital Pre-Arrival Processing. In short, PAP relies on the electronic exchange of the relevant information by traders to customs before the shipment physically arrives at the border. This means customs can already check all the information while the goods are still on their way.
Find out how Pre-Arrival Processing works, what its benefits are, and how GIZ supports partners in introducing it to make cross-border trade faster, safer, and cheaper around the world, including in Montenegro, Sri Lanka, and Cambodia.
