#SouthSudan: 100,000 people return to Akobo amid collapsed health system

More than 100,000 people have returned to Akobo, #SouthSudan, a town in ruins. The health system has collapsed. All 15 surrounding health facilities are looted, abandoned and cold-chain equipment is damaged, halting vaccination services. When our teams resumed activities at the hospital on May 11, they were immediately overwhelmed. More than 600 patients were treated in the first five days and by June 14, 684 patients had been hospitalized in a facility with capacity for just 30 beds. Jacob Granger, our Emergency Project Coordinator, updates.
