GWP-C and UNEP Side Event- Demystifying IWRM: Practical Pathways Through Wastewater Reuse
As part of the 34th Annual Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) Conference and Exhibition, a special side event titled “Demystifying IWRM: Practical Pathways Through Wastewater Reuse” was held to explore practical approaches to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and wastewater reuse across the Caribbean.
The session was hosted by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) in collaboration with UN Environment and the Caribbean Environment Programme. It aimed to simplify the concept of IWRM while highlighting innovative and sustainable pathways for wastewater management within the region.
Dr. Roxanne Graham-Victor, Regional Coordinator of GWP-C, served as the moderator, guiding an engaging discussion among a distinguished panel of experts and practitioners in the water sector.

Throughout the event, the speakers shared practical insights and real-world examples of how wastewater reuse can contribute to sustainable water management and strengthen the region’s resilience to climate change. The discussion provided participants with valuable lessons, experiences, and collaborative ideas for advancing IWRM implementation.
The side event took place on Thursday, 23 October 2025, at 10:00 AM (Belize) / 12:00 PM EST, at the 4th Floor Conference Room, Sunset Caribe, San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Belize, with participants also joining virtually via Zoom.
Overall, the session successfully fostered knowledge exchange and emphasized the importance of wastewater reuse as a key component of water security and sustainable development in the Caribbean.
