GBV 360 Degree VR Stories

On the occasion of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, UNDP, in collaboration with the National Assembly of the Republic of Mauritius, organized a multimedia exhibition in Port Louis. Open to the public from 25 November to 10 December, the exhibition brought together high-level government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, parliamentarians from the Gender Caucus, youth representatives, and artists. Through powerful works of art, multimedia installations, and complementary side events, the exhibition created a space for dialogue and reflection on the pervasive issue of gender-based violence. This virtual reality (VR) video, produced by UNDP in collaboration with professional actors, formed an integral part of the exhibition. Each scenario portrays a distinct form of violence to which far too many people—particularly women—are exposed on a daily basis. By placing viewers at the heart of these experiences, VR technology fosters a deeply immersive encounter that speaks directly to emotions, encouraging empathy, awareness, and critical reflection. #16daysofactivism #genderequality
