African grey parrots belong in the wild, not in cages 🦜
African grey parrots are among the world's most intelligent birds, but they were never meant to live in cages.
Between 1970 and 2010, more than 1.2 million African grey parrots were taken from the wild and legally exported. Many die during capture and transport. Those that survive often spend decades confined in captivity, where stress and boredom can lead to serious welfare issues.
Social media may seem harmless, but videos of wild animals kept as pets can increase demand and fuel the wildlife trade.
