Rescued as a cub, learning to thrive
One year ago, Mano was a scared three-month-old cub, rescued from the back of a car in Jakarta. She had been stolen from the wild and was destined for the illegal wildlife trade.
Today, Mano’s life looks very different. She’s climbing trees, foraging for insects, and building her own nests — learning the skills she needs to survive on her own. With support from IFAW’s partner, Jakarta Animal Aid Network, Mano now walks up to six kilometres a day through the forest, gaining confidence step by step.
As she grows stronger, her keepers are slowly stepping back — so Mano can step forward into the wild where she belongs.
