Baby elephant gets a check-up

At the IFAW–Game Rangers International (GRI) Zambia Elephant Orphanage Project (EOP), elephant keeper Elvis examines rescued elephant calf Wamwayi. As the calf's caretaker, Elvis needs to make sure the specialized milk formula, fed to Wamwayi by bottle, is causing any digestive issues. Tiny, two-month-old Wamwayi was found stuck in a mud hole by community members near South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. The Department of National Parks and Wildlife was called to step in, and since there was no sign of his mother nearby, he was eventually transported to the nursery. Elephant calfs like Wamwayi are sadly vulnerable to threats like drought, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict. His species, African savannah elephants, are endangered. That's why IFAW, through our Room to Roam initiative, is stepping up to help. ➡ Subscribe: https://bit.ly/IFAWSubscribe Follow IFAW on social: YouTube: https://bit.ly/IFAWYouTube Facebook: https://bit.ly/IFAWFacebook Instagram: https://bit.ly/IFAWInstagram TikTok: https://bit.ly/IFAWTikTok Twitter: https://bit.ly/IFAWTwitter LinkedIn: https://bit.ly/IFAWLinkedIn About IFAW: IFAW explores new ways to improve conditions for animals, people, and the place we call home.
