LAC region is now a hotspot for green and blue bonds, debt-for-nature swaps - GGGI expert

The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region has emerged as a global hotspot for innovative sustainable finance instruments. According to Marianna Lara Otaola, Lead on Climate Finance at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), these instruments include green and blue bonds, as well as debt-for-nature swaps. Lara said these mechanisms are not only transforming public and private finance, but also enabling nature-rich, debt-stressed countries to align fiscal policy with environmental goals.
